Q: What is an ILA?

A: An ILA is an Individual Learning Account, available to everyone in Scotland over the age of 16 with an income of less than £22,000.

Q: Is there only 1 type of ILA?

A: No, there are two types of ILA.  The £200 ILA - this is the most commonly used account that can be used to spend on a variety of courses.   The ILA 500 is a £500 ILA available to anyone considering undertaking HNC/HND or Degree modules/course.

Q: Where can I find out more about the ILA?

A: Every learning centre has details about the ILA account.   Drop in to find out more, or ask for a leaflet.  Alternatively visit the ILA Scotland website

Q: How long does it take to get an ILA?

A: It usually takes about 2 - 3 weeks to get an ILA account.

Q: Do I have to travel to College to do a course?

A: For some courses the answer will  be yes, as some courses require full-time or part-time attendance.  There are many courses that can be studied through a variety of distance learning methods, and many other courses that are available locally through classes and technology.  All courses are supported by qualified tutors / assessors at the respective College and/or staff at your local learning centre.
